About this event

Join the waitlistTaught by: Ashley Rehler Woodblock carving is one of the oldest forms of printmaking, a relief method in which wood is carved away to create an image. In this class, you will watch demonstrations of each step: creating an image, transferring the image to a woodblock, carving, and hand-printing. Students then create their own woodblock, carve it out, and produce prints worthy of framing! No experience necessary; beginners and intermediates welcome. Please note: All class supplies are provided. Prior to arrival, we recommend that students consider a handful of ideas for their woodblock and print out a copy of the chosen image. Ideal imagery has bold shapes or lines to make carving easier. Woodblock dimensions are approximately 6×6 inches. Students will have about an hour and a half to carve their images. Materials All materials provided. Registration Information Registration for this program starts on Tuesday, August 18, at 10:00 am for MAG Members, and Tuesday, August 25, at 10:00 am for Not-Yet-Members. Online registration ends on Wednesday, November 11, at 11:30 am. Programs with inadequate enrollment are canceled one week before the first meeting. We will attempt to contact you via email to find an alternative program or to refund your registration fee. Learn more about classes in the Creative Workshop, including information about parking and the refund and cancellation policies.
